Highland Mandolin by Dagger Gordon was the first album of Scottish music to feature the mandolin. It is a collection of some of Dagger’s favourite Scottish tunes along with a few of his own compositions.
While it is principally a feature for Dagger’s mandolin playing, some of his friends add colour to the album on clarsach, fiddle, whistles and guitars, along with Dagger’s own guitar and banjo.
The mandolin has quite a long history in Celtic music, and is becoming more popular today. This is a landmark album in its place in Scottish music.

Dagger Gordon is a mandolin player and farmer from the Highlands of Scotland. He is well known as a teacher of Scottish music, and has written a book – The Scottish Mandolin Tutor. He was recently inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame for Services to Community, mainly for his work with the Feis movement, and for taking Scottish music into local schools. ... more
