The Toe Rag 02:18

about

The Frozen River is the second album by Highland mandolinist Dagger Gordon.
It features mostly his own compositions, many of which were commissioned or written for people or events. The extended title track and The Dingwall Jig were both commissioned by Ross and Cromarty District Council – the latter for Prince Charles’ visit to the National Mod in Dingwall.
The Far Away Grandchild has become one of his more popular tunes, written for his American wife Julie’s parents in Connecticut after the birth of their oldest child Colin, and many of the tunes are named after family members and friends.
Although the album is mainly a feature for his mandolin playing and compositions, it greatly benefits from the contributions of several of Dagger’s Highland friends on piano, Hammond organ, accordion, fiddle and guitar.
